Former NFL player Jerrell Powe has been arrested and charged with kidnapping.
Powe and an accomplice were caught by law enforcement at a Chase Bank in Ridgeland, Miss., last Thursday, police said.
The victim was taken in Laurel, Miss., but was able to call 911 in Ridgeland, according to WLBT.
Ridgeland Police Chief Brian Myers told the station the victim was safe.
The investigation is ongoing.
Powe is set to appear at a hearing on Tuesday and is being held at the Madison County Detention Center without bond.
Powe, 35, played defensive tackle for Ole Miss in college from 2008 to 2010 and was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2011. He also played a season with the Houston Texans. He signed with Washington before the 2015 season, but did not make the final roster.
According to a 2017 profile, Powe was left with a number of debilitating injuries as well as atrial fibrillation and anxiety after he retired from the NFL. At the time, he had returned to Ole Miss to pursue a criminal justice degree.
