Pitching a Democracy Tent
Los Gatos Democracy Tent will be holding open forums Sept. 19 and 23, 6:30-8:45 p.m., for the six town council candidates vying for three open council seats in November. The “tent” is actually a large meeting room in the Los Gatos Adult Recreation Center, where only one candidate at a time will be in the room to introduce themselves, communicate their goals and plans and answer questions from voters.
The schedule for Sept. 19 is Rob Stump, 6:30-7:15 p.m.; Rob Moore, 7:15-8 p.m.; and Rob Rennie, 8-8:45-p.m.
On Sept 23 Mary Badame will be in the tent from 6:30-7:15 p.m.; Margaret Smith, 7:15-8 p.m.; and Reza Tavana, 8-8:45-p.m.
Los Gatos Democracy Tent will also hold an open session with Los Gatos Monte Sereno Police Chief Jamie Field on Monday, Sept, 26, 10:30 a.m.-noon, in room 3 of the rec center. Field will talk about her goals for the town’s police services and hear residents’ concerns and suggestions.
Los Gatos Democracy Tent was established to provide an open forum for residents to bring their issues to discuss and allow opposing views to be shared while focusing on the facts. The group’s objective is to help residents stay well informed on issues and public policy in a nonpartisan setting.
