OAKLAND — A man died Sunday night after he was struck in East Oakland by a vehicle that kept going, authorities said.
Police were trying to identify the man, who they said appeared to be in his 60s.
The collision happened about 10:11 p.m. Sunday in the 6100 block of Bancroft Avenue.
Police found the badly injured man laying in a westbound traffic lane. Despite the efforts of medical personnel he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses reported a silver or white pickup truck driving westbound on Bancroft immediately after the collision, police said. There was no information about the driver.
Police said it it unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were factors in what happened.
