RICHMOND — A pedestrian shot to death last week by a person in a car who followed him was Vallejo resident.
Authorities identified 26-year-old Emari Cook on Wednesday. He was fatally shot July 14.
Police have not made an arrest in the 12th homicide they’ve investigated this year. They did not have a description of the vehicle involved.
Spokesman Lt. Matt Stonebraker said Cook was walking on West Cutting Boulevard when a person in a vehicle began to follow him. Cook then walked onto South 49th Avenue about 10 p.m., and the driver followed him.
The two exchanged words, and gunfire followed, Stonebraker said. Cook died at the scene.
