The Saratoga Library is celebrating the Year of the Rabbit Jan. 14 with a roster of activities and performances.

Martial artist Yang Li will teach tai chi by the orchard from 10-11 a.m. A virtual option is also available for this introductory class. Li will teach the basic postures, steps and breathing techniques. No previous experience is necessary. The class will meet in the parking lot near the orchard. In case of rain, it will meet in the library’s community room. Registration is required to https://sccl.bibliocommons.com/events/63991cc33bc3f336008ea083 for the in-person class and https://sccl.bibliocommons.com/events/63917545bdd26c41009a0458 for the virtual option.

Hong Tai will perform on the guzheng, a plucked zither with 15 to 25 strings, from 11:15 a.m.-noon in the library’s community room. Seating will be first come, first served.

A concert by the Firebird Youth Chinese Orchestra is set for 1-2 p.m. The young musicians will play traditional Chinese instruments like the dizi, erhu, guzheng, pipa and ruan. Seating will be first come, first served.

Rising Phoenix will perform a lion dance from 2-2:30 p.m. to bring prosperity and good fortune to the new year.

Adults can help create a large rabbit mural for the library in a sticky note craft session from 3-4 p.m. in the community room. Participants will also create a smaller sticky note rabbit to take home. Registration is required to https://sccl.bibliocommons.com/events/639b7707fbf619d126c8f7f5.

Masks are highly recommended for these events.
