OAKLAND — A 26-year-old woman riding in an SUV in East Oakland Sunday night suffered a graze wound to her head when someone began shooting at the vehicle from outside, authorities said.
The woman, an Oakland resident, was in stable condition at a hospital, authorities said.
The shooting happened about 10:30 p.m. Sunday in the 2100 block of 22nd Avenue, a mainly residential area.
Police said the woman was a passenger in an SUV with some other people when gunshots were fired from somewhere outside the vehicle. The rear window of the vehicle was shattered and the woman suffered a graze wound to her head from a bullet, authorities said. No one else was injured.
The driver of the SUV drove her to a hospital.
Police have not determined a motive yet for the shooting and are still investigating whether the vehicle the woman was in was the actual target of the shooter.
